WHAT IS OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY?

The primary goal of Occupational Therapy is to enable people to achieve maximum independence with their daily life activities or “occupations.”

Occupational therapists use purposeful or meaningful activities to help a person achieve their full potential.

Susan is the owner of We Achieve Pediatric Therapy, LLC. She has over 30 years of experience as an Occupational Therapist and has specialized in pediatrics since 1989. Her love for working with children was stated best by a quote from Louis Paster,
“When I approach a child, he inspires in me two sentiments; tenderness for what he is, and respect for what he may become.”
Susan currently works as the administrator of We Achieve Pediatric Therapy and as a supervising therapist to complete evaluations, treatment plans, mentor, educate, and support the therapist. Makenna was born and raised in Orlando, Florida where she gained 8 years of experience working as a Special Needs Child Caregiver. Makenna earned her A.S. Degree in Occupational Therapy from Advent Health University in May of 2021 and then moved to Winston-Salem. She is specialized in pediatrics and has experience working in daycare/pre-school, outpatient and inpatient physical rehabilitation settings. Makenna emphasizes a tailored, family-centered approach to each caregiver and child to ensure individualized Occupational Therapy treatment. Missy is our receptionist at We Achieve and the daughter of Susan Cujas. Besides helping around the clinic, Missy is a licensed hairdresser of 7+ years and has started seeing the children at the clinic. Missy’s sweet, caring, and energetic personality is what makes the children feel more comfortable with her, especially something that can be as intimidating as a haircut. “I love being a part of a team of individuals who are so caring and accepting! I also love to see the children’s excitement to be at OT and PT because it is a safe place for them to be their authentic selves. I am glad I can be a part of a safe space for both therapy and haircuts!”
